Layer 01
Requirements
Layer 02
Design
Layer 03
Confirmation
01 / Requirements
Dimensions and needs, defined first.
Room dimensions
Provide floor plans, room dimensions, ceiling heights and the positions of doors, windows and columns.
Laboratory activities
Describe laboratory use, working procedures, staffing and the separation required between activities.
Equipment and furniture
List equipment sizes, bench requirements, storage needs and any special installation conditions.
Utilities and site conditions
Identify existing ventilation, gas, water, drainage and electrical connections, together with project constraints.
02 / Design workflow
Layout to 3D, confirmed step by step.
Layout, client confirmation, elevations and 3D follow one another in a controlled, verifiable order.
Step 01
Layout planning
Arrange furniture, equipment and circulation using the confirmed room dimensions and requirements.
Step 02
Client confirmation
Review the proposed layout and record requested changes before developing the next design stage.
Step 03
Elevations and interfaces
Develop elevations and identify furniture dimensions and service connection positions.
Step 04
3D review
Review the spatial arrangement and finishes in 3D where included in the agreed project scope.
03 / Engineering design
Ventilation, gas, plumbing, power, renovation.
System interfaces are drawn, labelled and resolved rather than hidden behind visual polish.
Airflow and extraction
Coordinate extraction points, duct routes and equipment interfaces with the project engineering team.
Gas supply interfaces
Identify gas types, points of use and routing requirements for review by the responsible specialist.
Water and drainage
Coordinate sinks, water supply and drainage positions with the planned furniture layout.
Power and data
Map equipment power requirements, socket locations and data connections for electrical design coordination.
Building and fit-out interfaces
Review partitions, finishes, access and existing site conditions against the proposed laboratory arrangement.
04 / Review
Technical and commercial, both signed off.
Technical review
Review dimensions, furniture arrangements, equipment clearances and utility interfaces against the confirmed requirements.
Commercial review
Confirm the scope of supply, exclusions, deliverables and project schedule in the proposal.
Client confirmation
Record comments and confirm the agreed revision before proceeding to the next project stage.
05 / Output files
Deliverables you can inspect.
| Deliverable | Format | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Layout drawings | As agreed | Furniture and equipment arrangement with key dimensions. |
| Elevations and interface drawings | As agreed | Relevant elevations and service connection positions within the agreed scope. |
| 3D views | As agreed | Spatial views and finishes where included in the proposal. |
| Design review record | As agreed | Confirmed revisions, comments and outstanding project decisions. |
06 / Drawing permissions
Clear rights, before and after the deal.
Drawing access is granted by stage, with permissions that stay explicit and traceable.
Confirm review access
Confirm which drawings are available for project evaluation and the permitted use before sharing or distribution.
Agree the drawing handover
File formats, editable source files, usage rights and release stages are defined in the project agreement.
