01 / Overview

Ventilation and utility, designed as one system.

Laboratory ventilation and utility system design brings ventilation, gas, water supply, drainage and electrical connections into one coordinated plan.

The design considers room layouts, bench modules, fume hoods and instrument requirements together, so that service routes and connection points can be reviewed before manufacturing and installation.

Room dimensions, applicable local standards and final site conditions are provided and confirmed by the client or the local engineering contractor.

02 / Interfaces

Every edge is drawn and labelled.

Ventilation, gas, water and power interfaces are resolved on the drawing so that each connection has a clear owner and location.

02.1

Ventilation

Fume hoods, exhaust hoods and airflow paths coordinated with room pressure and layout.

02.2

Gas lines

Gas cocks and pipework routes marked with fixture positions and service references.

02.3

Water supply & drainage

Taps, sinks, drip racks and drainage points placed against bench modules.

02.4

Electrical

Power outlets, control points and instrument feeds defined per workstation.

02.5

Finishing interfaces

Wall, floor and ceiling terminations coordinated where furniture, equipment and building surfaces meet.

03 / Required information

What we need to design accurately.

Dimensions, local standards and final site conditions are provided and reviewed by the client or local engineering contractor.

Layout

Room dimensions & use

Confirmed room sizes, layout drawings and intended experiment types.

Chemistry

Media & conditions

Chemicals, concentration, temperature and contact conditions guiding material choice.

Standards

Local standards & approvals

Applicable local building, safety and project standards, supplied and reviewed by the client.

Services

Utility connection points

Available air, water, power and gas positions and capacities on site.

Equipment

Instruments & loads

Large instruments, load requirements and clearance around workstations.

Site

Final site conditions

Final construction, connection and commissioning conditions confirmed locally.

04 / Output

Typical output drawings.

Design deliverables are versioned and confirmed in writing before any production begins.

Reference Drawing Purpose Stage
D-01 Layout plan Bench, hood and workflow arrangement First
D-02 Elevations & 3D Appearance, heights and material intent Review
D-03 Ventilation & gas Airflow paths and gas line routing Design
D-04 Water & electrical Supply, drainage and power interfaces Design

Draft drawings are watermarked and for confirmation only; final files follow written approval.

05 / Furniture & equipment

Furniture meets services cleanly.

Interfaces between benches, cabinets, fume hoods and building services are coordinated before manufacturing.

Bench / A-01

Workbench interface

Service outlets align with bench modules and worktop cut-outs.

Hood / B-02

Fume hood interface

Exhaust, sash and service connections referenced to the exhaust system.

Cabinet / C-03

Storage interface

Cabinets and safety storage placed against ventilation and access needs.

06 / Review

Confirmed in writing,
reviewed at every stage.

  1. Step 01

    Requirement confirmation

Needs, dimensions and standards confirmed in writing by the client.

  2. Step 02

    Layout & approval

First layout issued, then confirmed before elevations and 3D.

  3. Step 03

    System design review

Ventilation, gas, water and electrical designs reviewed by the design lead.

  4. Step 04

    Final confirmation

Materials, interfaces and versions confirmed before production.

Local standards, dimensions and final construction conditions are provided and reviewed by the client or local engineering contractor.
